About AIM Associates: Architecture
and
Integrated Design Team Management
AIM Associates is an architectural,
consulting and integrated design team management
firm serving the San Francisco Bay Area. Special
projects for other parts of the country are accepted
as well.
We are licensed to practice architecture in California and
Kentucky. NCARB Certification allows
us to more quickly become licensed in other states
if necessary. We are members of Sustainable Buildings
Industry Council, Architects/Designers/Planners
for Social Responsibility and U.S. Green Building
Council (LEED).
Design process
Our firm's strength lies in achieving
quality design with an economy of means. We
work resourcefully and creatively to meet stringent
program requirements, budgets and schedules. Our
goal in every project is to create a responsive
and enjoyable human-made environment that reflects
what is unique about the client, the users of
the building, and the site in a manner that is
healthy for the occupants and ecologically sustainable.
All of our intuitive design concepts at AIM are
tested using a science-based process including
the effective use of physical models and/or software
for 3D design, daylighting, energy use simulation
and life cycle cost analysis. Other analysis methods
have included wind tunnel testing, infrared imaging
and blower door testing.
AIM uses the integrated design team process to
help the entire design team work cohesively with
client managers and users at the outset of the
project. This process synergistically finds the
unique threads that make an integrated project
program. Together we weave these threads into
the fabric of the project to create an Integrated
whole building balance of engineering and aesthetics,
sustainability and efficiency, productivity and
gratification.
Awards
Our firm has been recognized
for technical ability and for aesthetic sensitivity
in its designs for adaptive reuse of historic
buildings by local organizations, and with grants from the US Environmental Protection Agency and the National Science Foundation.
AIM designed one of the buildings listed on
the U.S. Department of Energy's High
Performance Buildings Database.
